Mr. Tuttlesworth enjoyed gardening. It was all he ever talked about.
When the snow was barely off the ground, he and his dog Max were out preparing the soil for planting.
If a late frost came, Mr. Tuttlesworth would cover his seedlings with blankets and place hot kettles of tea in each row to chase away Grandfather Frost.
On hot summer days, he placed ice lollies and bamboo umbrellas by his plants to keep them from wilting.
Autumn brought an electrifying excitement to the garden as the crops were harvested and carefully stored in the cellar for Winter.
Mr. Tuttlesworth especially loved Halloween, for his pumpkins were the talk of the town.
When spooks roamed the land, Tuttlesworth’s Jack-o-Lantern’s demonic grin scared even the foulest of demons straight back to Hades.
So, on the eve of Samhan, the man and his dog selected the perfect pumpkin for the perfect Jack-o-Lantern.
“Come along, Max. We have much work before the witching hour,” said Mr. Tuttlesworth as he lugged the enormous gourd into his house for carving.
