Twisted Tales to Delight and Amaze

Moonlight Serenade

Moonlight Serenade

“Oh my darling, why oh why did I have to die and leave you alone? Only the gators know the reason why. For it was they that did not stay in the muddy swamp as I dreamt of you. So if you can hear this lonesome tune, send me a wish signed with a kiss,” sang Milo one moonlit night.

Milo had grown up in Cat’s Corner, Louisiana, home of the Big Fish saloon and honest Bob’s used fishing boats. Not much happened in the town, but Milo knew his life was about to change when Suellen moved in.

After months of trying to get a date with that pretty little feline, Milo entered the talent show at Big Fish and, to everyone’s surprise, won.

After that, Milo was living on easy street with Suellen. She agreed to a date on Friday night at the Soda Shack. While waiting to pick his date up, Milo went by the swamp to catch forty winks so he’d look suitably refreshed when he went to fetch her.

Lying on the grass, Milo drifted off and dreamt of getting a kiss from his true love. The next thing he knew, he looked down at himself, but most of him was gone.

At his funeral, Suellen shed tears as she clung to Mac O’Donnell, the football team’s captain. Milo pondered how long it took her to jump ship.

If you dare go down to Lonesome Point on a moonlit night, you might be serenaded by Milo singing for the lost Suellen.
