Sir Mopsus rode forth from the castle armed with his father’s sword to vanquish the evil worm that threatened the kingdom with destruction.
“Tobias, we have our work cut out for us today. By all accounts, this beast stands ten hands tall and breathes fire and shoots poison,” Tobias gave a definite cluck and then sprinted ahead.
“That’s the spirit! To victory,” cried the knight.
Thomas Mopsus was the seventh son of the seventh son and was known to be fearless and lucky. Tobias was his sturdy steed. The two warriors had defeated three giants and ten ogars in single combat.
“We shall be arriving soon at the abandoned villa. Be ready with anything. Those worms are tricky and will try to strike when our guard is down,” cautioned Sir Mopsus. Suddenly, a green flash sped past the knight, nearly knocking him from his steed.
“Oh my, I am so sorry. I wasn’t watching where I was going. Please, good sir, forgive me, and I shall be in your debt,” exclaimed a small hovering beast.
“What? Huh, forgive? Um, well, I suppose I could since you are so sincere,” stuttered the knight.
“I will be forever grateful, good knight. My name is Abby, Abby Normal, and who might I have the honor of speaking to,” enquired the little dragon.
“I am Sir Mopsus, and this fine steed is Tobias,” replied the warrior.
“It sure is nice to meet you, brave knight. Are you out looking to defeat a giant or ogre?” asked Abby.
“We were sent to slay a ferocious, fire, breathing dragon. You haven’t seen one today, have you?” asked Sir Mopus.
“NO! But if I did, I would get out of its way. I hear they can roast a knight in armor in less than a minute with their breath,” remarked Abby.
“Indeed. Abby, you know you are a fire-breathing dragon, right?” asked the knight.
“No need to be impolite, good sir. I was born this way but have greater ambitions than fighting men in metal underwear. Nope, I can read, and I’m going to be a great wizard someday and help folks,” said the dragon proudly.
“You don’t say; I believe you shall do just that for you, young lady, are the most brilliant creature in miles, besides myself.
“That’s kind of you, Sir Mopsus. I like you, too,” said the dragon with a brimming grin.
I propose a bargain. Come live with me and study Alchemy with my brother Merlin, and when you are ready, we shall explore the ends of the earth.
“Well, bless my scales. My prayers have been answered,” exclaimed the little dragon
“Splendid. Shall we be off? Oh, I almost forgot. Can you play dead?” asked the knight.
“I guess so; why do you ask?” said Abby nervously.
“You being a dragon and all and I being a popular hero, I tend to get visitors dropping in unannounced; it would be better if you were dead when they came by. Most people don’t think highly of scally fire-breathers if you catch my meaning,” said the knight.
“Message understood, good sir knight,” said Abby. She plopped down, rolled her eyes back in her head, and stuck her tongue out for added effect.
“Marvelous. It’s time to head home. Do you like roast carrots by chance?” enquired Sir Mopsus.
“Nothing better, good sir knight,” replied Abby.
Legend tells of a brave knight, his fearless steed, and a magical flying beast who traveled the world, helping those in need and enjoying spectacular meals wherever they went. Of course, we know it was just Sir Mopsus, Tobias, and Abby having fun seeing the world.
