“When will this forsaken journey end,” remarks the figure as he reaches the mountain’s peak.
The Lecturn has traveled the land for over a hundred years, searching for a relic, one so powerful that it set the world at war five millennia ago.
The Eye of Ra was forged in the earth’s depths, where Karnac, an ancient sorcerer, planned to destroy the world, believing it had become too evil and must be cleansed.
Before the sorcerer could use it, he was killed, and the followers of Horus hid away the Eye.
Word spread of the relic’s power, causing armies to battle each other for control. For years, the land ran red with the blood of fallen warriors and the sacrifices they made to their gods.
In time, the Eye of Ra became a legend, a myth, and finally, a fable. Only the Order of Klattu, with its priests known as Lecturns, reminded to search for the Eye.
The Lecturns number twelve at any time and search the land alone for the relic. When they join the Order, they renounce everything, including their identity, and become known only as Lecturn.
Today, the Lecturn of the Eastern region has hiked into the Himalayan mountains of southern Tibet, following a lead from a scroll recently discovered in Mohe City in Heilongjiang Province in northern China.
The scroll speaks of travelers with dark skin on a quest to hide the Angry Fist of God in the holy kingdom of Tǔfān, the ancient name of Tibet.
The Lecturn hopes that this time, the search will end the quest and the Eye of Ra can be returned to the Order’s sanctum sanatorium, where the priesthood will finally destroy it.
For today, however, he must continue the journey with nothing more than a whisp of hope to keep him going deeper into this frozen hell.
