So long ago, not even the mountains remember a troll who stole another’s bride on their wedding night was banished to the sea forever.
Since that time when the moon is full and the fog thick, the sea troll comes to the shore’s edge, begging to return to his home amongst the mountains.
He has lived in the sea so long now that no strand of hair hangs from his body. His teeth fell out long ago to be replaced with rows of razor-sharp rasps.
His fingers have grown together to move him swiftly through the water, and his once beady eyes have become giant orbs to see better in the depths of the sea.
The sea troll stands near the shore’s edge and shrieks for his kin’s forgiveness. “How much longer must I endure this suffering? Must I wait until the end of the time?” questions the troll.
Once shunned, a troll becomes invisible. Only a miracle can allow it to return to its family. Tonight brings no relief to the sea troll’s suffering.
As the dawn approaches, the troll slides beneath the waves and prays for the Ragnarok and the end of time.
