Perambulation | pəˌrambjʊˈleɪʃn | noun formal an act or period of walking or traveling through a place or area, especially for pleasure and in a leisurely way.
Asterix needed to get somewhere. Unfortunately, he didn’t know where, so he started walking and soon found himself in the deep woods.
“The sounds of nothing surround me,” the Gelf remarked, then he stopped to gaze at the forest’s canopy.
“We never get to see the light side of the forest’s roof. What does the Sun think lurks below?” wondered Asterix.
Taking a deep breath, Astrix enjoyed the mix of fragrances. “I smell the soil, and I smell the flowers. I smell life, and I smell death,” said the Gelf.
Asterix continued his walk until he reached a brook, sat down, put his feet in the cool water, and said, “I am where I should be at this moment; I have arrived.”
Listening to the sounds around him brought the stillness he sought. “Finally, my spirit is calm,” said Asterix.
Asterix stood and walked home, where he made mint tea and waited silently for the stars to come out.
“I must remember to perambulate more often. It’s good for the spirit,” said the Gelf with a smile.
