Twisted Tales to Delight and Amaze

A Thousand Points Of Light

A Thousand Points Of Light

A Thousand Points of Light shine through the darkness. Willard sat drinking his morning tea. “I don’t think I can get over the idea that Thomass is going away,” said the rabbit.

Evening came, and still, the rabbit could not force himself to leave his house. “Perhaps if I don’t go and say goodbye, he won’t leave,” said the rabbit.

The sunset over the forest reminded Willard of when he and Thomas would sit on the forest’s edge and wait for the fireflies to begin their nightly dance.

“I shall talk some sense into Thomas in the morning. Once I explain everything, he’ll understand why he can’t leave,” remarked Willard.

The sun rose, and Willard headed to his friend’s home, confident everything would be fine.

‘Hello, are you up yet?’ asked the rabbit.

Thomas did not answer, so Willard entered and was immediately shocked to see an empty room. “He left, and I didn’t even get to say goodbye,” said Willard in a quivering voice.

The rabbit sat down on the floor and began to rock slowly back and forth. “You should have let me explain; you should have waited,” said Willard.

When the sun sank low on the horizon, Willard stood and walked to the forest’s edge, where he sat and waited for the fireflies.

“I’m sorry I didn’t say goodbye; don’t forget me,” said Willard as he watched the sky fill with a thousand points of light.
