Twisted Tales to Delight and Amaze

Toell and Timothy

“I would like to see the sea someday,” said Toell to Timothy as they walked through the autumn colors.

“Then today is as good as any,” replied his friend.

“But I do like the colors, and the sea is drab,” remarked the giant.

“If it’s colors you want, stay among the flaming red, yellow, and orange leaves,” said his wizard friend.

“Have you ever seen the mountains?” asked Toell.

No, I can’t say I have had the opportunity,” said Timothy.

“I have, and the sky is so blue and the snow so white. Would you like to go today?” the giant inquired.

“I’m afraid not, as I do not like mountain air. Too thin for me,” answered the wizard.

“Just as well I hear the ogres are about, and they’re not the best company these days,” offered the giant.

“We do have the trees and that lovely Fall fragrance. There is no better place to be than with you here on a crisp autumn day,” offered the wizard.

The giant silently walked for a distance and said, “Any day with my friend is good. Rain or shine, hot or cold, I can’t think of a better way to pass the day.”

Toell and Timothy sat near a stream and listened to the water bubble down to the sea. “Tomorrow, I want to see the sea,” said the giant.

“Then we must see the sea, just you and me,” Timothy replied wryly.

Timothy decided to nap, and Toell thought that was an excellent idea. The two fell fast asleep and dreamed of autumn colors, waves, and walks in the sea.

The ending of the story is a beautiful little coda full of melancholy and assorted other emotions. Very often, your stories are about RELATIONSHIPS, and how they matter, not just in the fantastical world but in the real world as well. We can see mergings of fact and fiction the lines you pen, with reality being given its due, while the phantasy world remains strong and bold (emboldened).
