Twisted Tales to Delight and Amaze

The Bakery of Mrs Cuddlesbee

The Bakery of Mrs Cuddlesbee

“Must I always make the same thing?” thought the old bear.

Mrs. Cuddlesbee had made the best bread in the valley for over twenty years. “Every day it’s the same,” said the bear.

“Your bread is the best,” or “I don’t know what I would do without your baguettes,” muttered the baker.

“Time for a change, but what change?” wondered Mrs. Cuddlesbsee.

Sipping her tea, the baker considered cakes, pies, pastries, and bagels, but nothing caught her fancy.

“I need a nap, ” the baker said. All this thinking wears a person down.” The baker flopped on a stool and dozed off.

Mrs. Cuddlesbee dreamt of swirling rings and twirls made out of dough. When she awoke, she proclaimed, “Eureka, I got it!”

The baker rushed to her workbench. She rolled a long thread of dough and twisted it so the ends crossed.

“Now to sprinkle some salt on it, and into the oven it goes,” said the baker.

Half an hour later, Mrs. Cuddlesbee removed her creation and placed it on the workbench to cool. “This is amazing. What should I call it?” said the baker.

After it had cooled, she placed it in her shop’s show window. Immediately, a man walked in and said, “I want to buy that pressty thing.”

Mrs. Cuddlesbee removed it and wrapped it up. “What do you call it?” the man asked.

The breaker remembered his words and replied, “It’s a Pretzel.”

Soon, the whole town was rushing to Mrs. Cuddlsebee’s bakery to buy her pretzels, and as they say, the rest is history.

I happen to love pretzels, so the conclusion of this story naturally won my heart. A charming little anecdote packed in yeast and dough.
