Twisted Tales to Delight and Amaze

Koschei the Deathless

Koschei can not die due to his hiding “his death” or heart inside nested objects to protect it.

His death is in a needle inside an egg. The egg is in a duck in a well on a faraway island.

Koschei plays a malevolent figure who entraps the hero’s love interest. The hero must go off on a quest to find Koschei’s “death” to regain his loved one.

The hero has opportunities to form friendships during his quest. Later, his friends assist the hero in defeating Koschei.

Some folklorests suggest Koschei is the husband of Baba Yaga. That is still up for debate.

Koschei offers considerable resistance during the battle for the maiden’s life. Koschei’s tricks leave the outcome uncertain until the very end.
