A Taste of Honey

“Come along, Sebastian. The honey won’t collect itself,” said Miranda.

The farmer and her cat plodded along the forest path until they reached the clearing. “My, how busy we are today,” remarked the woman to her hive.

The cat ran up to the hive and started swatting the bees as they flew out of the hive’s opening. “Hey, leave them alone,” snapped Miranda.

The cat slunk beneath the table. Miranda removed the honeycomb and placed it in her pouch.

“This will last us the summer and give the bees time to make more before fall,” remarked the farmer.

Walking back to the house, the farmer and her cat licked their fingers and paws.

“Nothing like a taste of honey, Sebastian, to chase away the blues,” said Miranda.

The woman served tea with fresh biscuits, honey, and watercress sandwiches.

“Life is good,” said Miranda as she sipped her tea and ate her biscuits.
