Tall Tales

“Hello, children. Captain Rogers of the Northern Mounted Patrol, with today’s story,” the captain said.

Rogers and his steed Thunderbolt were well known for their heroic adventures.

“Thunderbolt and I were heading up Dead Man’s Pass. When a pack of ravenous wolves attacked,” said the captain.

“The situation looked bleak. I leaned over and whispered into Thunderbolt’s ear to rear up to frighten the beasts,” said Rogers.

Thunderbolt decided to bound over the animals and escape down the mountain.

“I would have preferred to stay and fight,” remarked the captain. Thunderbolt gave his partner a vial stare when he heard this.

The truth is, Rogers told the horse to make a hasty retreat back down the mountain.

“We waited until the following day to deal with the blighters with my trusty rifle,” said the captain.

It was the entire post that dispatched the beasts. Rogers always seems to forget to mention that part.

“All in a day’s work for the Northern Mounted Patrol. I say Thunderbolt, it’s time for tea,” remarked the captain.

“Chin up, you lot. Until next time, stay safe,” said Rogers, who mounted Thunderbolt and headed back to camp.

Well, kids, Captain Rogers will be back next week with another thrilling adventure.

Until then, don’t forget to eat your Bushwackers. Bushwackers is the official breakfast cereal of the Northern Mounted Patrol.
