“The fault is mine, I don’t deny,” said the wizard sitting at his scroll bench.
“A thousand years before the wheel said my Master when I appeared here so long ago,” muttered Saluatha.
The wizard had been arrogant in his youth. He made a deal with Lucifer Morningstar. The agreement was to become the greatest wizard of his time.
“With my prize laid bare before me, I walk proud, master of my domain,” said the man.
“Now I scroll the names of the dead. My Master may look upon them with satisfaction. He knows he has beaten the almighty one,” muttered Saluatha.
“Yet like me, he too is locked away in the darkness of Hell. I wonder if they will ever forgive each other and forgive us all of our trespasses,” said the man.
“Until such time, I will serve my Lord with each stroke of my quill upon this book,” said the scribe.
