“Whom should we torment tonight, Aloysius?” asked the Troth.
“We are overdue at the dwarves’ encampment,” replied the serpent.
Five years ago, the Troth fought a battle against the forest folk. After their defeat, they were cast into the formless void to suffer for all time.
“I miss my sisters and wish we could find a way to bring them back to the realm,” said Lucius.
“You are aware that the Old Ones sealed them away for eternity in an impenetrable vault,” said Aloysius.
Lucius was a messenger. She had traveled to the far side of the realm to seek an alliance with the dragons. And was not at the final battle.
“Yes, and we are lucky not to be in there too,” said the Troth.
After she learned of her people’s destruction, Lucius swore vengeance on those who fought on the side of the Waldvolker.
“It is enough to bring suffering to the traitors who defeated Mörken the Dark One,” said the serpent.
“I suppose you are correct. After all, what could a single Troth and fire serpent do?” replied Lucius.
Raiding villages, burning buildings, and stealing livestock were good enough for the warriors.
“Shall we have some fun, my serpent friend?” asked the Troth.
“Indubitably,” answered Aloysius.
The two friends headed down the road, and shortly after, screams of terror were followed by great peals of laughter. It was a good night for fun and games.
