“I wish you were here, Daisy. I miss you so much,” Tula said.
The Waldvolker came to the shine of lost souls to offer up thanks to her former companion. The traditional offering was flowers and bread.
“I sometimes wonder why you ran out on me that stormy night. Was it something I said or did?” remarked the young woman.
Tula had searched for Daisy the following day and found no trace of her whereabouts. After a week, Tula resigned herself to the fact that her companion had gone off to find another life.
“I do hope you’re happy in your new life and think of me sometimes. You were the best dog a girl could ever have,” whispered Tula.
Rising from her spot, Tula turned and bowed low to the altar, then walked home.
“Be well, my friend, wherever you are,” said Tula as she wiped away a tear.
“Time to get on with life,” mumbled the girl as she prepared for her daily duties on the farm.
