Saying Goodbye

“It’s been a while since I came to see them. The angels used to fill the sky as they headed to their winter home,” said the woman.

“The last time there were twelve, now only one, and soon there will be none,” muttered the watcher.

“I, too, am the last. Friends and family gone. The loneliness holds such weight for me. I can’t imagine how the angel must feel,” the woman said as she watched the animal glide across the sky.

The last sky angel sailed past and was soon out of sight.

“If the Gods are kind, we will meet on the other side. We can share our stories and tears,” the woman said.

“Until then, fare thee well, old friend,” whispered the watcher.
