Twisted Tales to Delight and Amaze

The Dark One’s Return

As fall fades to winter in the ancient forest, the Waldvolker are not in a celebratory mood. News reaches the inhabitants that Mörken the Dark One has returned from the void.

“The Dark One’s return sends shivers through me. I know he will come and kill us all,” said Lufa.

“Suppose you’re right,” the Gelf replied.

Mörken plans to finish what he started before the ancient ones set him away. He has gathered the remains of his Troth minions and will march on the Fifth of Po to the forest.

“Do you think the ancients will help again?” asked Lufa.

“Nope,” answered Asrek.

“Yeah, me too. The ancients went against their oath not to interfere. I wouldn’t expect them to do it a second time,” said Lufa.

Asrek and Lufa sat thinking of the coming battles that would rip the forest apart.

“I wish this madness would all be over so I could get back to farming,” remarked Lufa.

“It’s the way things are, and you can’t force them,” replied the Gelf.

“You believe that this is our fate?” asked Lufa.

“Can’t change what is already written,” said Asrek.

“We’ll see about that. Come on, let’s get over to Hendrecks’s and give him the news,” said Lufa.

The friends mounted the repus and headed to the wizard’s home.

“This time will be different. We will defeat those devil Troth,” said Lufa.

“Could happen. Then again, maybe not,” said Asrek.

The Fates have not yet decided the outcome. Yet, the Dark One has, and it does not bode well for the beloved forest, Ãlskad.
