“Door of stone that guards the spirits of darkness, open to me. I hold the Dragon’s Eye and command you to obey,” said the cloaked figure.
The heavy slab slid open, revealing a hidden passage.
“You, my friend, will unlock the Chamber of Torment and release my minions,” remarked the hooded one.
“I, Mörken, will claim my prize and bring the Waldvolker to their knees,” cried the Dark One.
Mörken carried the orb down the darkened path and into the underchamber below.
“Light, I need light, cursed Mörken,” as he groped about for a wall sconce.
“At last, now where did that flint go?” the Dark One muttered.
After several failed attempts, Mörken lit the torch and returned it to the sconce.
“How can I conquer the world when lighting a torch takes so much effort?” cried Mörken.
The Dark One stood before a sealed chamber. He held the orb above his head. Then, he began to recite an ancient spell.
“Stone and bone bond as one, release the ones you bind and hold. Darkness to light, free those held so tight. Now, we’ll see what I can do,” hissed Mörken.
The wall before him began to glow. Then chunks of stone fell to the floor, revealing a hidden void behind.
“Minions breathe the forest air and walk its ancient paths,” whispered the creature.
“Troth, come out and take your vengeance upon those who imprison you,” Mörken commanded.
Then a line of figures emerged from the black. Walking as if in a sleep, the Troth warriors moved down the path and up to the surface.
“Welcome, brethren, come and feel the sun’s light. Breathe the forest’s air, and know of my will to destroy the Waldvolker,” Mörken said.
When no more Troth exited the void, Mörken raised the orb and sealed the wall as it was before.
“Can’t have our little secret get out before we’re ready, can we?” mumbled the Dark One.
“Tomorrow, fire will fall from the sky,” said Mörken with a wry smile. “Those who believed they could stop me will turn to ash.”
