“Run, Cicero,” cried the deer as they flew past.
“What’s happening?” cried the Gwelf.
“Burning man comes and makes fire from his hands,” said a wild boar who heard her cries.
“Enough! Mörken’s terror stops now. Fire magic is it, well, see how our water magic suits you,” Cicero said.
The Gwelf ran to her hut, grabbed her staff of calling, and headed toward the fleeing animals. Within seconds, Cicero stood face-to-face with the Ghast.
“Finally, a humanoid to burn. I tire of these cringing animals. Now the screams can begin,” mocked the Ghast.
Cicero focused her mind on the water sign, keeping the fire in its center. “Water spout wash away this fire demon,” cried the girl.
“Your pathetic tricks can’t stop me,” the creature sniped.
A downpour of water surrounded the Ghast. His surprise was only matched by his fury. “Hell fire burn it away,” he cried.
“You ain’t seen nothing yet,” the Gwelf remarked. She summoned the groundwater to wash away the soil under his feet.
“What’s this?” yelled the Ghast as he sank into the mud, which in an instant turned to rock from his heat.
The Ghast’s fire exploded into a vortex, sending shards of jagged rock in all directions.
“It seems I have underestimated you. I won’t make that mistake again,” the Ghast said as he sent a wave of fire toward Cicero.
The girl pivoted on her staff to avoid the blast, then hit the demon with a wave of swamp water.
“You’ll enjoy the fragrance. It matches your personality,” Cicero mocked to infuriate him.
The Ghast began blasting fire in all directions. Cicero countered each one with a wave of water.
“I see I must rethink my attacks. You win this round, humanoid. Next time you will not escape my wrath,” the Ghast cried and then vanished.
“I must attend to the injured,” remarked the Gwelf as the animals returned and assisted Cicero with the injured.
“Mörken, you will pay for this if I have to destroy you myself,” muttered the girl. Cicero applied soothing mud to her patient’s burns to help ease their pain.
“This isn’t over, Dark One. Do you hear me?” Cicero cried, holding back the tears. She would have vengeance, she was sure of that.
