Lichun 立春: The coldest days are almost over, and we can feel the signs of Spring.
“It’s here!” shouted the girl as she climbed out from under the warm blanket.
Lichun, the beginning of Spring, was Ting Ting’s favorite time of the year.
“Hurry up, child, your breakfast is getting cold,” her mother called.
“Coming!” said Ting Ting. “So many things to do today. I can’t wait to get started,” the child said as she dressed.
“Can you feel how the weather has changed? The sun shines brighter, and its warmth fills the air,” Ting Ting cried.
Her mother laughed to see how excited Ting Ting was.
“Ting Ting, don’t forget you must help PaPa prepare for plowing and sowing of the fields,” remarked her mother.
“Will we have Spring Rolls and Pancakes today?” the girl asked.
“Of course, now run along to the fields before the rains come,” answered her mother.
“Lichun, I am so happy you’re here. Soon the snows will melt, and flowers bloom,” remarked Ting Ting as she rushed out to the field.
