Tulasi the Watcher had known the Slon her entire life. “From my earliest memories, your great green smile has always been there,” the Watcher said.
Hadrick came to the ancient forest when Frost Giants attacked his father’s kingdom.
“I can’t imagine a day I won’t expect to see you at my door. You always come to tell me about your latest adventure,” replied the Slon.
Hedrick’s father had fallen ill. As a crown prince, he must return to the northern mountains to assume the throne.
“Will you visit the forest?” asked Tulasi.
“I’m afraid that will not be possible for some time. You, of course, are welcome anytime,” answered Hedrick.
Tulasi escorted her friend to the forest’s edge and waved goodbye. “I will come as soon as possible,” the girl said.
“I will look for you at my door daily,” said the Slon. Hendrick turned and walked toward the distant mountains.
“The bard was correct. Parting is such sweet sorrow,” said the Tulasi
Tulasi walked into the forest, stopped, and took one last look at her friend, then whispered. “I hope the morrow comes before my heart breaks.”
