Fern’s Delight

“What a wonderful feeling,” said Fern as she rose from slumber.

The Nelf had awoke early, knowing today was the fifth of Po and a day of celebration by her people.

“I will visit the moonpool and dance for the goddess,” said the Nelf.

Fern washed her face, drank some neema juice, then made her way out to the main road.

“Good morning, Mrs. Detron. I’m off to give thanks to the goddess at the moonpool,” said the girl to her neighbor.

“Give the goddess thanks for me,” called the woman.

Crossing the bridge, Fern breathed deeply and then began to sway to the sound of the wind in the trees.

“Today we give thanks to you. I will dance, to please you, my goddess,” said Fern.

The Nelf swirled and twirled around the small island until the sun rose high above the trees.

“It is my delight to honor you on this, the fifth of Po. Please bring goodness to our people and our land,” said Fern.

Finishing her dance, the young Nelf bowed, then splashed cool water on her face. She sat silent in the bliss of the moment.

“This year will be the best. Now to help with the celebration dinner,” said Fern. She walked back across the bridge and headed home to share your delight with the family.
