What Wonders Beheld

“This is amazing, Pharleg,” Differ said to his repus.

The two travelers had journeyed across the prime meridian to see the sights no other had. The wonders he beheld were beyond even the storyteller’s tales.

“I wish the Grand Omba could see the size of these shroomies. He’ll never believe me when I tell the villagers,” remarked Differ.

After nearly a year, Differ was convinced of something profound. He believed the world was a large disc. It floated on the ocean of time.

“Every time we get close to the edge of the world, we encounter a huge grassy barrier. We can’t climb it,” the explorer wrote in his journal.

“I can hear the ocean, but can not see it,” muttered Differ.

The two finally gave up trying to reach the world’s edge, deciding instead to seek the prime meridian.

After crossing the meridian, Differ felt it was time to return home.

“Well, girl, I think we have seen all that needs to be seen for a lifetime. Let’s say we head home,” asked Differ.

The repus snorted in agreement. Differ wanted to camp under the shroom caps before they turned and headed home.

“I’ll miss the adventure, but home will feel good, don’t you agree, Pharleg?” questioned the man.

The repus was already asleep, and Differ thought that was a brilliant idea as well.

“Tomorrow we go home,” said Differ, then lay his head down and slept.
