Twisted Tales to Delight and Amaze

Always Something

“What is that thing?” questioned Sutep.

“Doesn’t matter. Stop poking it and leave it alone,” replied his friend.

Sutep and Fon had left the village early to go mushroom hunting in the deep wood.

“I sure hope we find those crown tops Gojeck is always talking about,” remarked Fon.

By mid-day, the two were walking in an undiscovered hollow. Sutep spotted something and ran over to touch it.

“Fon, it’s a crown top,” cried Sutep.

“That ain’t like how Gojeck said them mushrooms looked,” his friend replied.

Sutep walked over and started pulling on the giant plant, trying to rip it free.

“That ain’t no mushroom, Sutep. Stop fooling with it,” said Fon.

Sutep wouldn’t listen, even after his friend warned him to leave it alone. In an instant, the thing bent over and swallowed Sutep up to his waist.

“I done told you not to fool with it. Now I got to pull you out of it. You know I hate heavy lifting,” said his friend.

After several hard tugs, Sutep fell to the ground covered in slime. “It’s always something with you, ain’t it,” said Fon.

“We should not worry about them crown tops and stick to morels,” said Sutep.

“That sounds like a plan to me,” replied Fon.

Sutep was not concerned that he had almost been eaten. He figured a mushroom was better than a bear.
