Naughty Children

“Oh, I understand your point of view, really, I do. I’m afraid that pulling Sally’s pigtails does not qualify as a preemptive attack for when she kicks you,” said the Coal Bringer.

Each year, the Coal Bringer visits naughty children during the Halloween season. The visit is an attempt to reduce Krampus’s workload.

“Betty, do you expect me to believe you flushed your sister’s goldfish down the toilet as part of the Save the Whales campaign?” remarked the demon.

Some children confess their crimes when they see the Coal Bringer. They pledge to go straight for the rest of the year.

Others genuinely believe their own stories. Unfortunately, they will recieve a visit from Krampus at Christmas.

“Terry Oswald, you had no idea your little brother was in the dryer when you turned it on?” questioned the Coal Bringer.

Still others felt their action were justified and should be thanked for their corrective actions.

“So, Cynthia, you felt locking your little brother in the crawl space with the demon Hermes would correct his evil behavior? Hmm, you have a point there,” remarked the Coal Bringer.

Most children promise to change their ways. The Coal Bringer sees through this ruse and offers a stern warning.

“Christopher, if you continue to torture your mother’s rabbit. Krampus will add you first to his holiday soup,” remarked the Coal Bringer.

Over time, children have become less fearful of Krampus and his assistant, the Coal Bringer. The two have discussed retiring to Greenland for a well-deserved rest.

“Kids today don’t understand how hard it is to scare them. Video games have changed that,” muttered the Coal Bringer as he prepared to scare another child straight.

This reminds me of the 13 Yule Lads from Icelandic traditions! Look them up, they are a hoot!
